Our studio is located centrally, near to Waterloo Station, in a converted Victorian Board School. Being the former children's nursery we retained the name, both for the obvious plant analogy, but also as we hope it reflects the nurturing and playful environment we encourage.
The space was simply converted by Conran & Partners, retaining many of the original features, including the bare brick, that help to maintain the original character of the space.
A wall of large, original Crittall double doors look out on to our studio garden, which occupies the old nursery playground. The garden is key to the energy in the studio, as it allows us a real connection to nature in the heart of the city. While we weed, feed the fish, eat together in the summer, or simply gaze through the studio windows at the rain, it is hard to imagine the juggernauts and buses passing by the other side of our high garden wall.
